im 12 years in, 2 years as an uneducated vegan and 10 years as a pescetarian now leaning towards the raw food diet and green smoothies. I found your story refreshing and your definition of true health to be almost spot on (i might disagree with the mid afternoon dip,it seems we were better designed for biphasic sleeping IMO)

Thanks for your comments, and I apologize for the delay in responding to you. Somehow your message ended up in my spam folder.

I'm glad to hear that my story resonated with you. I think raw foods and green smoothies are an excellent next step for you on your own diet evolution. The raw food diet is very powerful - it can initiate some massive changes and cleansing in the body. And green smoothies are a wonderful addition to any diet. They pack a huge nutritional punch and are a superfood unto themselves.

I would recommend, based on all my experience, and all that I have observed with others in the raw food community, that you consider exploring raw foods but not as a vegan. Raw veganism, especially long-term, often seems to result in a major health deterioration after an initial intense honeymoon period that may last up to 2 or 3 years. Most don't make it past the one year mark before problems start introducing themselves.

You can preserve all the wonderful benefits of raw food, while avoiding the problems that veganism introduces, by keep raw eggs and raw fish in your diet.

Currently, the raw food world is infatuated with veganism, in spite of how many people run into health problems eating that way. Veganism is presented to newbies not as an option, but a mandate. The result of this is that few stick around for the long haul. Be smart from the get-go and consider keeping those healthy raw animal proteins in your diet.
